The Musawa Local Government area of Katsina State on Monday  disbursed N2 million interest-free loans to 200 youths to boost development of small-scale businesses in the area.

Alhaji Tanimua Kira,  the Council Chairman, said  that the scheme was part of ongoing assistance of government to encourage self-reliance among youths.

Kira said that the scheme was introduced to facilitate the growth of small scale businesses and urged the beneficiaries to invest wisely.

He said that each beneficiary was given N10,000, adding that beneficiaries were selected from the 10 wards in the area.

Kira described the scheme as a success, adding that 100 women had also benefited with N10,000 each in the scheme.

He warned residents against indiscriminate disposal of refuse and urged them to improve their efforts in planting trees and other measures against environmental degradation.

Kira said his administration distributed relief materials to flood victims in 2014 and pledged his commitment to good policies geared toward uplifting people’s lives.

Two of the beneficiaries, Malam Abu Garba and Malam Hassan Musa, thanked the council chairman for the gesture and promised to expand their businesses with the loans.
