Chief Joel Madaki, the state PDP Chairman made this known in Yola while speaking to journalists .

Madaki said since the initial agreement was that the then acting governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, was the party’s candidate for the cancelled by-election.

He explained that Fintiri was to complete the tenure of the impeached governor Murtala Nyako, saying that the latest development that led to the cancellation of the by-election had made the agreement untenable.

“With what happened now we have to wait for another agreement as the previous one is no longer binding,” Madaki said.

On the appeal filed by Fintiri over his removal by an Abuja High Court, Madaki said the party was not part of the appeal.

The chairman said that what Fintiri did has nothing to do with the party just as the measure taken by Gov. Bala Ngilari who challenged his resignation.

Madaki described Fintiri and Ngilari as strong members of the party and that effort was being taken by the state chapter of the party to see that the duo work together.

He also described as false the speculation that members of the state House of Assembly were not happy with the removal of Fintiri and were planning to impeach Ngilari.

“The assembly members are PDP members and we have met with them, and I can assure you that there is nothing like that,” said Madaki.

The chairman also dismissed comments credited to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that if the election was conducted as scheduled the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have won.

According to him, the PDP is more than confident of its chances of landslide victory in the cancelled election.

“How I wished the judgment was delayed till after the election for us to have taught APC a lesson,” Madaki said.

He noted that the 2015 general election was around the corner for PDP to cut APC to size.

Madaki said that the APC has no single councillor in the state and wondered why Atiku should be boasting about the party’s popularity.

“Atiku, who is aspiring for APC presidential ticket, should be happy that the election did not take place, thus saving him the embarrassment of losing in his own state,” he said.
