This is also not consistent with reports that the player only signed a six-month loan deal with the modest Portuguese outfit Portimonense in January.

The player’s representatives have always maintained they secured a long-term deal for their client with Spurs soon after he shone at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in Abu Dhabi with the option to ship him out on loan to Spain.

The Portuguese club through their website further said the Mutunchi Football Academy of Kaduna product has a release clause of €10 million.

The player nicknamed ‘Nigeria’s Neymar’ represented Nigeria at U17 and U20 levels, winning U17 World Cup in 2013.

He scored his first-ever goal for the club this month in a 1-0 win over Benfica second team.
