The solar plant will be constructed at Ragba, along Mokwa – Jebba road in Mokwa local government area of the state, according to the state Commissioner for information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa.

Vatsa said that the solar plant will also go a long way at addressing the recent lapses of the three hydro electricity power stations in the state.

He expressed optimism that the project, when completed would not only create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the area but also boost the state internally generated revenue.

He assured Vyonare Development Limited of the state government’s unflinching pledge to settle all compensation due to the owners of 100 hectares of land acquired for the project.

Speaking on behalf of Vyonare Development Limited, Engineer Segun Ajayi disclosed that the $100 million independent solar power project will boost the nation’s effort at increasing its power generation as some of the percentage of the power generated would be evacuated to the national grid.

Ajayi stated that the project would be fully funded by Vyonare Development Limited while the Niger State Government would provide the enabling environment for the smooth take off of the project and facilitate all necessary processes needed for its actualization.
