African soccer stars in Europa League action

The last 32 round of the UEFA Europa League will wrap up this evening, with several Africans looking to play key roles and help their sides advance into the next round.

The early match this evening sees Turkish side Osmanlispor, who feature the likes of Pierre Webo and Badou Ndiaye in their squad, host Alaixys Romao’s Olympiacos. The teams are locked at 0-0 from last week’s first leg.

The 20h00 CAT kick offs are headlined by the clash between Mohamed Salah’s Roma and Villarreal, though the Italian side’s 4-0 lead has given manager Luciano Spalletti the luxury of resting the Egyptian for the match.

In the late games, Victor Wanyama’s Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to overturn a 1-0 loss from their first leg against Belgian side Gent when they take to the field at White Hart Lane, while Khouma Babacar’s Fiorentina will look to add to their 1-0 lead against German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

Three teams have already book their places in the next round following matches on Wednesday evening: Eric Bailly’s Manchester United, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting’s Schalke and Charles Kabore’s Krasnodar.
