As the Local Government election in Lagos State draws nearer, grassroots politicians in the state have started making series of strategies on winning the council polls which according to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC will hold on July 22, 2017.
Like every other part of Lagos State, Amuwo Odofin Local Government is not left out as the State’s All Progressive’s Congress, APC commences campaign very soon.
Though the outcome of the primaries has been greeted with protests — which by any standard is normal in politics, the party has defended itself on the selection process that produced both the Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates of the party across the 20 Local Governments and the 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state. The party constitution allows both direct and indirect primaries.
So, it is not inappropriate for the party leaders to have explained to Nigerians and Lagosians on the emergence of their candidates, premised on the conduct of indirect primaries or candidates emergence through consensus.
Amuwo Odofin Local Government, a cosmopolitan community has eventually produced one of their own, Comrade Engineer Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming local government election in the state.
Engineer Valentine Buraimoh who is popularly referred to as “Valo” by his teeming supporters was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Christopher Olanusi Buraimoh in Lagos State at the Lagos Island Maternity on April 1, 1977.
He attended Holy Cross Catholic School and later St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, Lagos State where he passed his West Africa School Certificate. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering at the Lagos State University and later a post-graduate degree in Communication Engineering from the University of Lagos.
An Engineer, Valentine enrolled as a corporate member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, after successfully passing his examinations. Aside his range of diverse cognate and practical experiences from reputable national firms, Valo is a very charismatic and detribalised leader who has made a landmark history in the area of works and infrastructure, environment, quality health and aesthetic environment and the dedicated team he worked with.
Against the political insinuations from certain quarters from Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Engineer Valentine Buraimoh is a politically experienced leader. He relentlessly pursued the ideals of PRONACO, with his mentors among which include Chief Anthony Enahoro, Dr Beko Ransom Kuti, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Professor Wole Soyinka and Comrade Ayodele Adewale, the immediate past Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government.
His exploits as the Youth Leader of the defunct Action Congress in Ward B2 of Amuwo Odofin Local Government helped shape and define Amuwo Odofin politics for the better by initiating purposeful, dynamic and finesse to grassroots governance. As the Supervisor for Works, Infrastructure and Housing in the local government, he conceptualized and supervised several projects that are now evidence of development in Amuwo Odofin Local Government. His tenure in office witnessed the greatest number and length of roads constructed in various strategic locations in the local government.
With his ingenuity, entrepreneur acumen, scientific skills, organisational savvy, determination and sincerity of purpose, Amuwo Odofin Local Government is reassured of Engineer Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh performing exceedingly greater than his predecessors.
Indeed, Amuwo Odofin will be more than fortunate to have one of its own, an astute, forthright, capable, dedicated and visionary leader emerge as the next executive chairman.
