First Bank of Nigeria Limited has rolled out a chat banking solution to add to its list of available digital banking and transaction channels.
The First Bank Chat Banking is a solution designed to serve customers of the bank who are active with their alert phone numbers on the popular chat application, WhatsApp, which will enable them to execute banking transactions of all manner on the platform.
Speaking in Lagos at the launch of the solution at the weekend, Chuma Ezirim, Head of eBusiness at First Bank, stated that the target of the bank is to bring onboard over 40 million WhatsApp users in the country.
While assuring users of high level of security and protection on any of the digital banking platforms deployed by the bank, Ezirim said “the first thing we take care of before activating any of the platforms is security. So our customers’ information are protected and secured.”
Ezirim further explained that this has helped the bank to maintain it’s leading position in digital banking solutions with growing adoption by users across the country.
“Currently we have over 7.5 million users across our digital transaction platforms who carry out over 12.5 million daily transactions valued at over N20 billion.
“Though, the Chat Banking is already available to 12 million customers that are on our alert platform but the product is targeted at over 40 million active WhatsApp users in the country,” Ezirim said.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the bank, Adesola Adeduntan, said the new solution is meant to further improve the services of the bank ahead of its 125th anniversary next year.
