Buhari sacks Banire, appoints Adamu as AMCON chairman


President Muhammadu Buhari has replaced Muiz Banire with Mr Edward Adamu as Chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) Recall that President Buhari, in a similar event, replaced former Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) boss, Tunde Fowler, with Muhammad Nami on Monday.

Mr Adamu served as the Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. He was nominated to serve in this capacity by President Buhari on February 1, 2028 replacing Suleiman Barau who retired in December 2017. Adamu was confirmed by the Senate on March 22 , 2018 .

Today, 10th December 2019, a pleased President Buhari has after sacking Muiz Banire appointed Edward Adamu as the new Chairman of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria , AMCON.

Adamu was first employed at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in 1992. In 2012, he was appointed Director of the Strategy Management Department at the central bank.[3][4] During the intervening years, he served in many roles and in many departments at CBN, including Knowledge Management, Records Management, Strategic Alliance and Price Intelligence. He also served as the head of the Projects Planning & Implementation Division.[3]

In 2016, Adamu was appointed Director of Human Resources at CBN, a position he occupied prior to his appointment as CBN Deputy Governor.[3][4]
