Benin, Sept. 3, 2020 The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Campaign Council in Edo, Mr Dan Orbih, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to give Nigerians free and fair elections in Edo.
Orbih, who made the appeal while addressing PDP supporters in Ward 5 in Ikpoba-Oka Local Government Area, said the forthcoming Sept. 19 gubernatorial election in the state is about the liberation of Edo people.
According to him, for those coming to conduct election in the state, all we are asking for is free and fair elections.
“Together we will resist any attempt to rig the election. Gov. Obaseki is indeed a good man. His developmental strides are commendable.
“I could not raise any voice against him like I did with the former governor. Edo people were always waiting to see me in the news.
“Now, we can point to what he has done. In Ward 5, he constructed 15 kilometer of road at St. Saviour, Modular Refinery, power plant, reconstruction of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
“Construction of mini stadia across the state among others are part of his achievements,” he said.
In his remarks, Gov. Godwin Obaseki, said he was amazed with the large turnout of PDP supporters in ward 5, adding that he could not believe that the crowd was from a single ward.
“I want to thank you for this large turnout; I can’t believe this is one Ward. This is a very special local government to me, the number of people in this area cut across tribes.
“Am determined to improve the economy of the state, even in the rural areas, so that our youth can have a better life.
“But if these set of politicians who are not ready to work find their way back to government, they will make things difficult for us again,” he said.
The governor called on eligible voters not to allow thugs find their way back to governance, saying that they had made life difficult for traders in the past. (
