Bauchi (Alkaleri), Oct. 17, 2020 Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state says the conduct of the local government elections in the state is a testimony of his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises.
Mohammed stated this in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state on Saturday, shortly after he cast his vote at Yelwan Duguri Primary School polling unit during the council elections.
Naija247news reports that the last time such elections were held in the state was 12 years ago.
The governor said his administration had promised that Bauchi state was going to have one of the most credible Local Government elections in the history of the state.
“This is one of those things we are doing and we are very happy that at least, we are salvaging our campaign promises.
“Though, I can not say anything about the candidates, but we have seen how orderly people are and they look very happy to be allowed to exercise their universal suffrage.
“It is not because we are better, or are geniuses; it is just because we have to go by the rule of law and fear of Allah,” he said.
Mohammed expressed happiness that the voting had been peaceful, saying he had not heard of any violence.
