    Ogun State Gov.’s Chief of Staff re-elected as UMA President

    Lagos, Nov. 9, 2020 (NAN) The Chief of Staff to Ogun Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, has been re-elected as President of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) for another two years.
    The UMA Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Tajudeen Adebanjo, made this known in a statement issued in Lagos on Monday.
    Adebanjo said that Salisu, popularly known as SAS, was re-elected on Sunday at the 31st Annual General Meeting of the association at the University of Lagos Islamic Centre Hall, Akoka, Lagos.
    Also re-elected were an Associate Professor and acting Head of Cell Biology and Genetics Department, Khalid Adekoya and Alhaji AbdulMajeed Raji of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), both as Deputy Presidents.
    Adebanjo said that the Head of Family Medicine Department, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Dr Abdulmajeed Akodu, also joined the duo as the Deputy President.
    Also elected as Vice-Presidents for UMA, Akoka and LUTH respectively were Alhaja Mujidat Isiaka of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and Dr Azeezat Shopeyin-Dosunmu of Community Medicine Department, LUTH.
    “An Associate Professor, Geography Department of UNILAG, Dr Shakirudeen Odunuga, was elected as the General Secretary, while Superheads Nigeria Limited’s Recruitment Specialist, Mustapha Kelani, emerged as Assistant General Secretary.
    Others were Alhaji Tajudeen Adebanjo and Azeezat Quadri, Public Relations Officers; Yusuff Jamiu, Financial Secretary; Alhaja Muhidat Bello, Treasurer; AbdulKabir Kuye, Internal Auditor and Drs Ganiyat Tijani-Adenle and Aisha AbdulKareem-Yasir, Welfare Officers for Akoka and CMUL respectively.
    Also elected were Mutiat Adeyemo, Legal Officer and Alhaji Lere Alimi, Chairman, Shurah Committee.
    Alimi enjoined the newly-elected exco members to focus on economic empowerment, job placement and other forms of support for members of the association.
    “The new executive council should endeavour to utilise the available expertise, strengths and networks among our membership to obtain more mileage for the association.
    “All members should also make themselves available for service when called upon by the executive council of UMA,” Alimi said.
    The Deputy Governor of Ogun, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele and UMA’s Board of Trustee (BoT) Chairman, Rasak Oladejo, congratulated the new exco members and prayed for Allah’s guidance for a successful tenure.
    The newly-elected president thanked members for their participation in the AGM and solicited for their support to further strengthen the association.
