Akure, Jan. 13, 2021 Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi on Wednesday forced hosts Sunshine Stars to a 2-2 draw in a Match Day 4 fixture in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure saw Fuad Ekelojuoti putting the home side ahead in the 9th minute.
But the home side soon conceded an own goal to draw the visitors level on the stroke of half-time.
At the resumption of second half, several goalscoring chances were created by Sunshine Stars, but the Lobi Stars goalkeeper pulled several great saves to keep the scoreline at 1-1.
In the 77th minute however, Lobi Stars’ Ossy Martins scores to put the hosts on edge.
But Sunshine Stars drew level in the second minute of added time through Sadeeq Yusuf who utilised a rebound from a free-kick.
Speaking later, Lobi Stars’ Head Coach, Kabir Dogo, said he was satisfied with his players’ performance and the result.
Naija247news reports that the Head Coach of Sunshine Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote, on his part was full of praise for his team.
”I can only call for calm, because the season is just starting.
“If and when the club register the remaining players who can give us more attacking options, there will be balance, especially with the experienced players we have,” Ogunbote said.
NAN reports that Sunshine Stars now have four points from four matches played, while Lobi Stars have gathered seven points from the same number of games.
