Lagos, Jan. 17, 2021 The Coach of Lagos-based MFM FC, Tony Bolus, on Sunday lamented his team’s 1-1 draw with visiting Rangers International of Enugu at Agege Stadium, Lagos, saying the result was unexpected.
Naija247news reports that in the keenly contested Match Day 5 encounter of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game, MFM fended off a goal down from the visitors to salvage a 1-1 draw.
“It’s not a result we hoped for, we attacked them very well, that is the reason we used four strikers, but the goals did not come.
“We can’t force goals, we have never showed Rangers respect. I have yet to lose against Rangers, and we even defeated them at home last year. It is luck on their side,’’ he said.
Reacting, Rangers Assistant Coach, Boas Magnut, said that his team came for the kill.
“We are not disappointed, we actually came here to get the maximum point.
“We know that MFM is a side that is very mobile, so, we waited for the second half to unleash more strikes on them seeing that they were a bit tired,’’ he said.
NAN also reports that Rangers were put ahead in the 24th minute of play when Ugochukwu Ugwuoke’s flick header beat MFM’s goalkeeper Abayomi Folarin.
The Olukoya Boys Muyiwa Balogun’s brilliant finish, however, put the homers back into the game in a much contested duel in the first half of the match.
Rangers, coached by veteran Salisu Yusuf, would have got the needed nail in the 30th minute when Maduka Dauda pounced a ferocious shot from outside the box only for it to end on the claws of Folarin.
The home side made double changes mid-minutes of the game when Dakkada FC goal winner, Temim Adebayo and Clement Ogu were introduced into the game in the 75th minute.
Both sides, however, had minutes of few chances created as both settled for a slim draw to extend both sides unbeaten run. MFM now has three match unbeaten run.
Rangers on the other hand has four match unbeaten run.
