Akko (Gombe) Jan. 22, 2021 Dr Bayero Fara, Director-General, Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), on Friday said the institute’s outreach learning center in Gombe state would commence full operation in the next two months.
Fara, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen shortly after he had inspected ongoing projects at the center, located in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe state, expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the facility currently at the final stages of completion.
He, however, identified some amendments that needed to be effected at the facility, for the early take-off of the learning center, explaining that the Institute was established to provide world class professional training, research, as well as proffer solutions to challenges in the nation’s transportation sector.
The director-general stressed that regular training was key to the transportation sector, to achieve its desired goals as well as contribute to the nation’s economy.
Fara said that the centre was sited in Gombe State to serve the North East Geo-Political zone, urging individuals, public and private sector players to avail themselves of the opportunity and enroll in the institute.
“We have started with preliminary activities, we will soon be fully functional in the next two months. We are going to deploy more staff to this centre to make it fully functional and conducive for everyone.
“NITT has been playing a significant role in the Transport sector, because people who have been trained in the institute have been making impact in the state Transport Services.
“We have courses that lead to certificates, Diplomas, Advance Diplomas, Post graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in the field of Transport,” he said.
Naija247news recalled that the institute was established in Gombe in 2016, with skeletal operations in the state capital before moving to its permanent site in Kumo, where it has capacity to accommodate over 1,000 trainees, with well equipped laboratories and workshops.
