The suspension order was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, on Friday, by the Director-General, Press Affairs and Public Relations of the House, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura.
“The lingering dispute between the commission and the National Union of Pensioners, Zamfara State Chapter, over the verification of local government pensioners has been resolved by the state House of Assembly.
“The disagreement emanated as a result of the commission’s decision to verify all local government pensioners aimed at eliminating irregularities associated with the payment system and authentication exercise.

The statement added that after receiving the petition by the pension union’s leaders, through the assembly’s Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the two parties were summoned to resolve the matter.
Speaker of the house, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya, who presided over the reconciliation meeting, expressed satisfaction with the maturity shown by both the warrying factions during the meeting.
“After intervening in the situation, the assembly resolved that the current verification exercise should be suspended forthwith.
“While the state pensions commission should fully be mobilised at a later time, to visit all the local government headquarters in the state, to meet with the local government pensioners”, the assembly ruled.
It also urged the Union leaders to assist their members with all the relevant documents, needed by the commission, to verify their members.
