Uyo, Jan. 29, 2021 Akwa United defender Olisa Ndah has urged his teammates to ensure they made good use of their chances on Match Day 7 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) when they meet Kano Pillars in Uyo on Saturday.
The centre-back, who has regained full fitness following an injury he sustained on Match Day 3 against Abia Warriors, hopefully will start against Kano Pillars having taken part in all the team’s training sessions on Friday.
Ndah, a Super Eagles reliable, said he was delighted to be back and train with the rest of his teammates after that thigh injury.
“It has been a very difficult start for us and we have to hit the ground running starting with this game against Kano Pillars.
“It’s difficult to believe that we have just six points from a possible 18. We are playing very well and creating lots of chances in all our matches but the major issue has been converting those chances.
“Our coach, Kennedy Boboye, has inspired all of us; and our team is such that any player in the field can score. So, I’m optimistic that the story will change this weekend.
“The game against Kano Pillars is a crucial one and we need to put in our very best to ensure we make it count by securing maximum points on Saturday,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Promise Keepers are 15th on the NPFL table with six points from six matches comprising one win, three draws and two losses.
Coach Boboye’s team will be aiming for their second victory of the season on Saturday against fifth-placed Kano Pillars who have never won or drawn a match against Akwa United in Uyo.
In their previous eight meetings, Akwa United have won four and Kano Pillars two, while two of those encounters ended in stalemates. Victory on Saturday will move Akwa United into the top half of the NPFL log.
The game which was originally fixed for Sunday Jan. 31, was brought forward to Saturday Jan. 30 by the League Management Company LMC.
