OYSCATECH gets first female Deputy Rector

Ibadan, Feb. 2, 2021 The governing council of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora (OYSCATECH) has ratified the appointment of Dr Taiwo Akinyemi as Deputy Rector of the institution.
This is contained in a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Helen Olawoore, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the appointment of the 57 year-old Akinyemi was ratified at the council’s meeting held on Jan. 29.
NAN also reports that Akinyemi was elected by the Board of Studies on Jan. 20, following the retirement of the former deputy rector from service.
Akinyemi, of the Department of Home and Rural Economics, is the first female to be appointment as deputy rector in the history of the institution.
The Ibadan-born deputy rector is an alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1996.
She obtained Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Home Economics in 2005 and later PhD in the same field.
Akinyemi had lectured Home Economics on part-time at Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo; Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo and Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
She joined the services of OYSCATECH as Lecturer II and rose to the position of Chief Lecturer before her new appointment.
The statement said that the new deputy rector had ‘meritoriously’ served the college and other organisations in various capacities.
