Wakama (Nasarawa State), March 9, 2021 Sen. Godiya Akwashiki (APC-Nasarawa North) says he will continue to provide social amenities to communities in his senatorial district in order to improve the standard of living of his constituents.
Akwashiki, the Senate Committee Chairman on Employment, Labour and Productivity, stated this on Sunday in Wakama-Akun during the inauguration of the newly-elected executive members of Wakama Youth Movement.
He said that provision of infrastructure to different communities in his senatorial district would also tackle youth restiveness and unemployment in the area.
The lawmaker promised to provide electricity to Wakama community and its environs in order to boost the socio- economic activities of the community.
“So far, I have embarked on infrastructural development, such as road construction, electricity and health facilities, among others.
“This is to affect the lives our people positively and ensure their overall development.
“By God’s grace, I will provide electricity to villages in this ward and its environs,” he said.
Akwashiki also said that he had facilitated the construction of a 13-kilometre OLA/Akpata road in Akun Development Area of the state.
He said that the road would not only boost transport system but also improve the standard of living of the people of the area and its environs.
The senator further assured his constituents of quality representation at the National Assembly in order to improve their living standard.
Also speaking, Mrs Felicia Ibi, Mother of the day and Dr Sam Anzaku, a Director with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Mr Ovey Bashayi, Founder of Ovey Foundation, an NGO, urged the youth to continue to remain focussed in order to succeed in life.
They also assured of their support to the association at all times.
The District Head of Wakama, Chief Makka Nangba, commended the youth for their commitment to ensuring the development of the area, calling on them not relent.
The immediate past President of the association, Mr Francis Maggah Namo, assured of his support to the new leadership to ensure its success.
Earlier, Mr Bala Ewuga, the new Chairman of the association, had pledged to operate an open door policy that would foster unity and peace within the community.
Naija247news reports that Mary Amos, Anyuabaga Auta, Tsaku Yakubu, Anzaku Arigu, John James, Jonathan Umbagadu emerged as Vice- Chairman, Secretary-General, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasuer and Auditor respectively.
Other officers were: John Jatau, Asoloko Emmanuel, Ewuga Affiku, Affiku Amos, David Agum,Atama Usman, Auditor II, Welfare Secretary, Director of Social, Public Relations Officer I, Public Relations Officer II and Provost Marshal respectively.
