Kano, April 7, 2021 Sachet water sellers in Kano are making brisk business due to the current hot weather in the state, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Some of the vendors, who spoke with NAN on Wednesday in Kano, said that they had been making huge sales in the past one week.
They said that the current hot weather condition in the city and the turnover had also induced many youths to go into the business.
Ada Uche, one of the vendors at France Road, said she sells a truck load of sachet water on daily basis with a profit of N2000.
Also, Hajiya Yasira Hamis, said that the business had afforded her the opportunity to assist her husband financially.
Hamis said she had made much money from the business since the onset of the hot weather.
“The business has provided me the opportunity to assist my husband financially. I sell three sachet water at N20 instead of the usual N5 per sachet,” Hamis said.
Another vendor, Mr Emeka Chinedu, however, said that the challenges of epileptic power supply in the city was affecting their business while high electricity tariff had eaten into their profits.
NAN further reports that most youths, including under-aged children, have taken to the business of hawking sachet water along the streets and major traffic points in Kano metropolis.
